I am a member of The Society of Composers, Inc., and started studying piano at the age of six at the St. Felix Street Playhouse in Brooklyn, NY, and continued my studies, privately with Noel Sokolow, and the Henry Street Settlement House in Manhattan. After graduating from Brooklyn College, CUNY in 1969, I studied bass with Carol Kaye in Los Angeles.

I began playing guitar in the late 50s and performed as a folk singer/accompanist up and down the East Coast. I took up the electric bass in 1960 and played and recorded with a number of popular music groups of the time. These included Seth and Tedd, The Don Costa Singers, The Roy Thompson Singers, Dick Glass, Brian Hyland (Itsy-Bitsy Teeny-Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini and Sealed With A Kiss), The Hi-5 (You'll Never Know and Euphoria) and Oliver (Goodmorning Starshine and Jean). I also worked as the electric bass player for the CBS Orchestra on the Ed Sullivan Show in the late 60s before moving to California.

Upon moving to San Francisco in 1974 I played with a number of jazz groups and cabaret acts and also became involved in musical theater, performing in many shows including Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well, The Rocky Horror Show, and San Francisco's longest-running musical review, Beach Blanket Babylon. Among my TV credits one of the most enjoyable assignment was that of musical director for the NBC-TV special The Great American Laugh-Off, starring Robin Williams.

I studied composition with David Garner and Alden Jenks at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, composing synthesized film scores and chamber music. Two of my pieces, A New York (Circa 1950) Suite and Scherzo for Woodwind Quartet have been performed at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and A New York (Circa 1950) Suite was performed most recently at a Society of Composers conference in Portland, Oregon.

I composed the scores for Anybody But Liza, a musical based on a story by Alexander Pushkin, with lyrics and libretto by Linda Rimel and Roscoe - A Slapstick Tragedy, with my old friend, from Beach Blanket Babylon days, and collaborator, Don Stitt. A concert version of Rosoce was performed at the Leonard Nimoy Symphony Space in New York in February 2004.

I recently was honored with the Burton Award for his chamber music CD, which was chosen as a listener favorite on the Non-Pop radio program, The Latest Score, which is broadcast from Provincetown, MA.
